Hey there

WELCOME TO THE BPD PROJECT

This is a project and company made for people with Borderline Personality Disorder by a person with BPD.

A work in progress, I aspire for this company to be a safe place for people to buy products that will help with their mental health symptoms while finding community and belonging along the way.

Welcome

LET'S BREAK THE ICE

I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder in 2016.

It's now my passion in life, along with my full-time engineering job, to spread awareness and kindness about BPD while being transparent about my experiences so that we may end the stigma together!

WHAT IS THE BPD PROJECT?

A passion project to help others be prepared

A soon-to-be subscription box, The BPD Project is a way for others to learn how to cope and manage their mental health symptoms, specifically for people with Borderline Personality Disorder, but also for others who struggle with the common symptoms seen across the mental health community, with skills and related products received each month.

How The BPD Project is Different from Just a Self-Care Box

?

Boxes will include DBT cards that go over the month's skills and include the usage of the products you'll receive in your box

6

Self-care is important but learning to cope with certain symptoms and how to change habits is even more helpful when it comes to self-care.

#

A community is established by purchasing a subscription box and joining a group of people who are going through the same thing - literally.

WHAT IS BPD?

More than just quickly changing moods

According to Mayo Clinic, Borderline personality disorder is a "mental health disorder that impacts the way you think and feel about yourself and others, causing problems functioning in everyday life. It includes self-image issues, difficulty managing emotions and behavior, and a pattern of unstable relationships."

To the right are the 9 criteria from the DSM-5 that helps determine a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder.

In the United States, 1.6% of the population has bpd - over 4 million people in America alone

75% of people diagnosed with BPD are women - that's 3 women to 1 man

About 70% of people with bpd will make at least one suicide attempt in their lifetime, with 10% succeeding

20% of people with BPD have also been diagnosed with bipolar disorder

WHAT IS DBT?

A way to change thinking behaviors

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a way to change thinking behaviors and patterns, developed in the 1980s by Dr. Marsha Linehan, to treat people with BPD. It's used to teach others how to live in the moment, cope with stress in a healthy way, regulate emotions, and improve relationships with others. DBT is commonly used to treat Borderline personality disorder, but has been useful in treating other mental health issues in the community, such as with people who have difficulty regulating emotions or who exhibit self-destructive behaviors.

When it comes to stress eating, keeping a food diary can help you see patterns or certain behaviors in how you eat when you're feeling anxious, stressed, or depressed. Follow the prompts below and record what you eat for the next 7 days to see if any patterns emerge. If you skip a meal, record that as well.
